Tramezzini zijn klassieke kleine sandwiches – sneetjes witbrood met daartussen mayonaise, groente en andere vulling – die vooral geserveerd worden in Venetië.

Op de Biennale in Venetië is zoveel moois te zien, dat we nauwelijks tijd hadden voor een uitgebreide lunch. We namen daarom regelmatig onze toevlucht tot een of meer tramezzini om onze honger te stillen. Eenmaal terug in Nederland houden we deze traditie nog even in ere en trakteren we onszelf tijdens de lunch regelmatig op zo’n typisch Venetiaanse sandwich.

Bij een fietstocht door de glooiende Toscaanse heuvels denk je meteen aan minimaal 20 versnellingen en het liefst een elektrisch model om de hellingen te bedwingen. Maar het kan ook makkelijk! Een uniek fietspad van 62 kilometer van Chiusi naar Arezzo telt een hoogteverschil van maar 20 meter. De bijzondere route loopt namelijk door een drooggelegde rivierbedding. Net als wij hebben de Italianen hier land herwonnen op het water!
