M/Y PERCHERON : The Italian Explorer from Cantiere delle Marche

Cantiere delle Marche (CdM), an italian shipyard has launched during the summer 2012 her second Explorer Yacht Darwin Class 86′ M/Y “PERCHERON”.

Designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec, this 26m explorer vessel has a steel displacement hull and an aluminum superstructure. Her interior accommodates eight to ten people in four en-suite cabins.

RINA classed and MCA compliant, “PERCHERON” is powered by two CAT C12 allowing her a 7,000 nautical miles range at 8.5 knots.

She made her world debut at the 2012 Cannes boat show before crossing the Atlantic Ocean on her own bottom in 14 days despite the bad weather conditions. She arrived in time to attend the 2012 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Stibbert Museum in Florence – haven of treasures

[…] All I knew about the museum was that it was a private collection by a man named Frederick Stibbert. […]

Frederick was extreme wealthy and where did the money come from? Namely his grandfather – Giles Stibbert, who was the commander-in-chief for the British East India Company in Bengal at the end of the 18th century.

In fact, after Frederick inherited the estate, he never worked again and decided to start a never-ending collection of objects, antiques, and artifacts and turned his villa into a museum. Lucky guy!

When the size of the collections outgrew the villa, Stibbert hired architect Giuseppe Poggi, painter Gaetano Bianchi and sculptor Passaglia to add-on extra rooms.

There are 57 rooms in the villa filled with all sorts of western & eastern artifacts, often the walls covered with tapestries and paintings of famous figures from all over Europe, awesome paintings!

One of the most important pieces of the collection is the “petit costume”, made for the coronation of Napoleon as king of Italy in 1805.

The most extensive collection is around 12,000 pieces of European, Oriental, Islamic, Japanese arms and armour from the 15th century through the 19th century. […]

The hall of knights or Salone della Cavalcata is one of the largest rooms and includes full-scale replications of the horses and their armory. We couldn’t believe how many artifacts were jammed inside, these were some stylish (and protected) horses! Scattered around the museum are pieces from the Ferregamo clothing collection throughout the decades which was a little random but I liked seeing his different designs throughout the years.

Don’t forget to also check out the adjacent park in front of the museum — a really great place to just wander. Huge, green and lined with trees, I really want to come back and have a picnic in this green oasis.[…]

MÁLAGA – De politie heeft dinsdag in Mijas een gevaarlijk Italiaanse maffia lid gearresteerd. Het gaat om de 47 jarige Vittorio Maglione, alias Naso Stuor, die op de lijst stond van meest gezochte Italianen. Hij is een lid van de Camorra Napolitana clan Ferrara-Cacciapuoti en staat bekend als zeer gewelddadig en erg gevaarlijk.

De Italiaan werd net buiten een restaurant in Mijas door de politie in de boeien geslagen in een korte maar heftige politieactie. Op het moment van arrestatie probeerde de 47 jarige Italiaan nog onder een arrestatie uit te komen door valse identiteitskaarten te laten zien maar daar trapten de agenten niet in.

Eind 2012 begon de politie van Málaga een onderzoek naar Vittorio Maglione nadat de agenten getipt waren over zijn verblijfplaats aan de Costa del Sol. Nu de Italiaan op is gepakt zal hij waarschijnlijk worden uitgeleverd aan Italië waar hem waarschijnlijk een celstraf van 15 jaar boven het hoofd hangt vanwege drugshandel en geweld.

Het is niet de eerste keer en zal ook niet de laatste keer zijn dat de Spaanse politie, vaak in samenwerking met Italiaanse collega’s, Italiaanse maffialeden in Spanje oppakken. Veel van hen wonen aan de Costa del Sol wat de Italiaanse maffia gemakshalve La Costa Nostra noemt aangezien zij vaak vrij makkelijk hun activiteiten vanuit Spanje door kunnen laten gaan –(Remco Stoffer)
