‘NS en NMBS gaven Fyra onvoldoende onderhoud’ volgens de Italiaanse treinproducent AnsaldoBreda

Niet Fyra-bouwer AnsaldoBreda maar de Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) en de Belgische spoorwegmaatschappij NMBS zijn schuldig aan het falende hogesnelheidsproject tussen Brussel en Amsterdam. Dat heeft de Italiaanse treinproducent vrijdag in een kort geding in het Nederlandse Utrecht gezegd. AnsaldoBreda wil via de rechter bereiken dat de NS en de NMBS de bestelde Fyra-treinen alsnog afnemen.

Dat de V250-treinstellen technische mankementen hadden, is volgens het bedrijf onvermijdelijk. Bij de bouw van ‘state of the art’ voertuigen zijn kinderziektes te verwachten. Volgens AnsaldoBreda zijn de Fyra-treinen veilig en zijn mankementen te verhelpen.

Berlusconi wil nieuw begin voor Forza Italia

De voormalige Italiaanse premier Silvio Berlusconi wil herbeginnen met Forza Italia, de centrumrechtse partij waarmee hij zo’n twintig jaar geleden in de politiek ging. Dat heeft Il Cavalieri aangekondigd.

Berlusconi liep deze week nog een levenslang verbod op om nog publieke mandaten uit te oefenen, bij zijn veroordeling voor machtsmisbruik en seks met de minderjarige Ruby. Zijn advocaten hebben echter elke mogelijke beroepsprocedure opgestart, wat de straf opschort.

Volgens Berlusconi zal Forza Italia deel uitmaken van de PDL, de coalitie van centrumrechtse partijen in Italië, zo zei hij op de openbare omroep. De steun aan de regering van Enrico Letta zet hij voorlopig niet op de helling.

(ANSA) Milan, June 28; Italian drinks company Campari has purchased Australian beverage packer Copack for 14.2 million euros at Fridays exchange rate, according to a statement released by the maker of Aperol, Skyy vodka and Wild Turkey bourbon.

The acquisition is expected to be completed during the course of the third quarter of this year, while the payback period of the investment is estimated by the company at approximately six years.

Pierre Cardin's Venice skyscraper plans called off | Italy

(ANSA) - Paris, June 28 - Pierre Cardin’s plans to build a futuristic skyscraper overlooking Venice have been called off, the fashion tycoon’s nephew told ANSA Friday.

Rodrigo Basilicati is also the CEO of Concept Creatif Pierre Cardin, the company that was developing the controversial project in the city of Marghera outside Venice.

"The decision was inevitable after over two years since presenting the initiative we could not get formal approval on a deal with all public bodies involved," said Basilicati.

Opponents of the 300-meter Palais Lumiere had argued it would clash with the Medieval character of the lagoon city, and that the marshy terrain made for a soggy foundation that might not be able to support a massive steel-and-glass structure.

Moldavian dancer defends Costa cruise captain | Italy

(ANSA) - Naples, June 28 - A Moldavian dancer on the deck of the Costa Concordia cruise ship that crashed and killed 32 people off the coast of Tuscany last year defended the captain Friday.

Speaking to Italian television, Domnica Cemortan said the accident was caused by a misunderstanding over orders by the captain, Francesco Schettino.

"It wasn’t the captain who made the mistake. He knew what he was doing, and his orders had been made clear, but the last official on the chain of command misunderstood to the point that he had to repeat it," she said tearfully.

"However, a few seconds later we crashed against the rocks of Giglio island.

The dancer, who was reported to have been romantically involved with Schettino since her suitcase was found in his room, denies any personal involvement with the man.
