De zwarte tomaten zullen uitsluitend verkocht worden door L’Ortofruttifero in San Giuliano Terme, Azienda Agricola Vella Raffaele en Nature Service in Milaan.

Afzetprogramma’s en marktdiversificatie zijn twee winnende strategieën in de Italiaanse tuinbouw. Het perfecte voorbeeld hiervan is Orto Serre, gespecialiseerd in de teelt van cherrytomaten (Juanita) tussen maart en november. Juanita tomaten worden dagelijks geoogst en zijn beschikbaar tussen juni en november.

De toekomst van de historische Grand Prix in Monza staat op het spel. Bernie Ecclestone waarschuwde eerder dit jaar dat het bestaande contract voor de Italiaanse Grand Prix, welke loopt tot 2016, een commerciële ramp is.De problemen voor Monza lijken nog groter te worden, zo onthulde het Italiaanse La Stampa. Het gaat om de ‘legge di stabilita’, in het Nederlands de stabiliteitswet, waardoor een besluit van de senaat kan zorgen dat de Grand Prix na 2016 geen doorgang meer vindt. Het artikel meldt dat een belastingvrijstelling van 20 miljoen euro niet meer mogelijk is. Hierover zegt politici Fabrizio Sala: “De stabiliteitswet straft Monza en haar circuit, waardoor de toekomst van de Formule 1 Grand Prix op het spel staat.”Voormalig F1-coureur Ivan Capelli, die afgelopen jaar de directeur werd van de Automobiel Club van Milan, laat echter weten te blijven vechten voor de Italiaanse Grand Prix.

Italiaanse luchtmacht heeft bij Alenia Aermacchi nog eens drie T-346A trainingsvliegtuigen besteld. De order is een gevolg van een grotere behoefte aan dit type geavanceerde trainer waarvan in 2009 al zes besteld werden.Naar verwachting zal het totale aantal T-346A’s in dienst van de Italiaanse luchtmacht oplopen tot vijftien. De toestellen worden ingedeeld bij 61 Stormo op de luchtmachtbasis Lecce.Alenia verkocht tot op heden 59 M-346’s inclusief exportvarianten aan Israel (30), Polen (8) en Singapore (12).

Ukrainian woman who staged protest while half-naked remains in cell in papal state after snatching figurine from nativity scene.An activist from the feminist group Femen who snatched the baby Jesus figurine from St Peter’s Square’s nativity scene on Christmas Day remains in custody in the Vatican.Iana Aleksandrovna Azhdanova, from Ukraine, was held in a Vatican cell on Friday, awaiting possible trial for “disturbing the peace, obscene acts in a public place, and theft”.Azhdanova was naked from the waist up as she stormed the nativity scene and had the message “God Is Woman” daubed on her torso while thousands of pilgrims looked on.
