Auto’s verboden in Milaan wegens luchtvervuiling

In de Italiaanse stad Milaan is de lucht zo ranzig dat de Italiaanse overheid een drastische maatregel heeft moeten nemen.Op dit moment geldt er van maandag tot en met woensdag tussen 10:00 uur ‘s morgens en 16:00 ‘s middags een rijverbod in de Italiaanse stad Milaan. Alle privéauto’s moeten op dit tijdstip van de weg blijven. De maatregel volgt op flinke luchtvervuiling in de stad.Er geldt namelijk een grens van 50 microgram fijnstof per kubieke meter lucht, die niet vaker dan 35 keer per jaar overschreden mag worden. Helaas voor de Milanezen is dat wel gebeurd en dus volgen er nu drastische maatregelen. Dezelfde grens geldt overigens ook in andere steden, zoals Rome, Turijn en Napels. De hoofdstad werkt momenteel aan ook aan maatregelen.

Of all the emails I received last week, this was the happiest: an invitation to go to a London pizzeria called Rossopomodoro to eat pizza and meet the world champion Neapolitan pizzaiuolo. If you are wondering what a pizzaiuolo is, you are probably never going to be one. The award is for the best Neapolitan pizza maker in the world and was this year scooped by Teresa Iorio, the 19th child of a family of 20 from Naples, who followed her father Ernesto into the pizza trade.

Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant chain is getting close to opening their first location in Toronto. Jamie’s Italian is collaboration between the British celebrity chef and King Street Food Company that is planned for Yorkdale Shopping Centre.It’s been a long haul for the first Canadian outpost of Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant chain, but the end to the preparation is in sight. Way back in June 2014, they made public the plans that, in conjunction with King Street Food Company (the owners of Buca, the Saint Tavern and other Toronto restaurants), would bring the British celebrity chef’s restaurant concept to Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
