'Italië onderzoekt belastingontduiking Apple'

Justitie in Italië is een onderzoek begonnen naar mogelijke belastingontduiking door Apple. Dat meldde het Italiaanse nieuwsblad l’Espresso woensdag op zijn website.


Het Amerikaanse technologieconcern zou in 2 jaar tijd ruim 1 miljard euro aan inkomsten verborgen hebben gehouden voor de fiscus in het Zuid-Europese land. Dat deed Apple door in Italië behaalde inkomsten in de boeken van een dochteronderneming in Ierland te zetten, die er in dat land - waar de tarieven veel lager liggen - belasting over betaalde.

Prosecutor must die, Mafia boss Riina says from prison

Palermo, November 13 - Former Cosa Nostra Mafia “boss of bosses” Totò Riina shouted for the death of justice officials, including a deputy prosecutor, from his prison cell during hearings into an alleged deal between mobsters and the Italian government, an Italian newspaper reported Wednesday.


As a result of Riina’s threats, authorities considered moving deputy prosecutor Nino Di Matteo and his family to a secret location for their protection, according to La Repubblica, which cited a prison guard as its source.

Sex sold in 14 percent of Italian schools - survey - The Local

Students are prostituting themselves to classmates in 14.4 percent of Italian high schools, a new survey has found.


Child prostitution is a regular occurrence in 8.9 percent of schools, while isolated incidents have happened in a further 5.5 percent, according to the poll by student website Skuola.net.


Three thousand people responded to the online survey, released on Tuesday, which came after reports surfaced in the Italian press of schoolgirls selling themselves for sex.
