Illegal migrants are sent to work at Sting's Italian vineyard

A Tuscan vineyard owned by musician, Sting, has been under-paying illegal migrants to work as labourers picking grapes and olives from the estate.A police investigation has revealed that a gang had been sending migrants, refugees and asylum seekers to work in what has been described as ‘inhumane and slave-like’ conditions.The workers, who were reportedly being paid £3.60 an hour, were harvesting the grapes at the Il Palagio estate that have been used to produce the singer’s award-winning wines.It is understood that Italian police are investigating 13 suspects who are thought to have been involved in the gang supplying the workers.
