PERUGIA, Italy — The highway heading south across Umbria, from Ravenna to Viterbo, passes through a fairytale landscape of castles crowning the hills that border the Tiber River Valley. But for a buyer with deep pockets, that fairytale could become reality. One of the oldest castles in Italy is for sale. The Castel San Giuliano, portions of which date from the 11th century, is being sold along with six hectares, or 15 acres, of land, an ancient oratory, a tiny church, a farmhouse and two small houses or outbuildings that, like the rest of the compound, have fallen into such decline that it is all but impossible to determine their original use, though storage is a good bet.
