Miljoenen Italianen hebben gestaakt tegen de bezuinigings- en hervormingsplannen van het kabinet-Renzi. Er waren 54 protestmarsen. In verschillende steden waren er opstootjes.Bij botsingen met studenten raakten in Milaan elf agenten gewond. In Genua werden auto’s in brand gestoken.

Two alleged members of the ‘Ndrangheta mafia arrested under investigation into links between criminals and Italian politiciansA massive investigation into collusion between underworld criminals and corrupt politicians in Rome widened on Thursday when police arrested two alleged members of the ‘Ndrangheta mafia.Officers from the paramilitary Carabinieri police accused Rocco Rotolo and Salvatore Ruggiero of being lynchpins in relations between the criminal network in Rome, led by a one-eyed former fascist nicknamed “The Pirate”, and the ‘Ndrangheta, which is based in the southern region of Calabria. Both were charged with mafia association.
