Ga in Florence op pad met Sophie Kruijsdijk, die de mooiste, bijzonderste en lekkerste plekken van de stad kent en je meeneemt naar het échte Florence!Hoewel Saskia zich inmiddels bijna een local mag noemen in Florence, woont ze er (nog) niet. Gelukkig blijft ze dankzij vriendin en collega Sophie, die sinds 2010 in deze prachtstad woont, helemaal op de hoogte van alles wat er gebeurt als Saskia door andere delen van Italië reist. Bij terugkomst in Florence, wat gelukkig wel voelt als thuiskomen, is de lijst met uit te proberen adresjes voor koffie, ijs, lekker eten, mooie winkels en bijzondere evenementen meestal te lang om alles te vinken. Zo gaat Saskia altijd weg met tal van redenen om snel weer terug te keren.

Villa Saraceno [is located] in Finale di Agugliaro, a small country village midway between Vicenza and Padova in the Bassa Vicentina.

Built by Andrea Palladio, the father of western architecture, around 1545 as the centerpiece for an existing farm owned by Biagio Saraceno, the villa caught fire in 1798 and was severely damaged, partitioned off and used as a community farm house in the late 1800s, converted to tenement dwellings during World War II, and by the 1980s Villa Saraceno was totally abandoned, derelict and, sadly, forgotten.

With barely a pulse left in its facade, the Villa Saraceno was plucked off the building emporium scrap heap by The Landmark Trust, a British charity charged with rescuing significant historic buildings at risk.

Purchased in 1989, The Landmark Trust breathed new life into Villa Saraceno with a tedious five-year renovation project that culminated with the reopening of its doors and windows in 1994. […]

Er is een ommekeer in de maak in de soap rond het nieuwe tv-contract. Telenet lag vorige week nog in pole-positie, maar het negatieve advies van de Belgische Mededingingsautoriteit heeft de ambitie van het bedrijf om samen met de Pro League een eigen voetbalzender op te richten gekelderd. MP & Silva lijkt het nu te gaan halen.

…Already a big fan of their Darlinghurst restaurant this new outpost is part of new developments on Hall Street (with Harris Farm and Messina next door).

We’ve arrived in the afternoon when the restaurant is quiet but the pasta makers are busy prepping for the evening meal. I’ve made pasta loads of time but it’s great to see some experts at work for handy tips and tricks.

For starters we are trying the scientific genius that are the Olive all’Ascolana. These are olives stuffed with pork mince, crumbed and fried and the only thing I know for sure is that they are delicious and would be impossible for me to replicate at home. Yum.[…]
