Italië haalt 1100 vluchtelingen uit boten

Ook tijdens de paasdagen heeft de Italiaanse marine het druk gehad met vluchtelingen. In de nacht van zondag op maandag haalden reddingswerkers ten minste 300 mensen uit nauwelijks zeewaardige boten. Zondag al plukten ze 800 mensen van zee en brachten die naar Sicilië.Sinds begin dit jaar hebben al meer dan 20.000 vluchtelingen de oversteek van Noord-Afrika naar Italië gemaakt. Een scheepsramp met meer dan 300 doden bij het eilandje Lampedusa in oktober, heeft Italië ertoe aangezet veel meer patrouilles te houden op zee.

De Italiaanse economie kan dit jaar sterker groeien dan momenteel wordt voorspeld.Dat stelt de Italiaanse minister van Economische Zaken Pier Carlo Padoan in een interview met de Italiaanse krant Corriere della Sera.
