Voor politici is het goed leven in Italië. Hoewel er massaal bespaard wordt op ambtenaarslonen, wordt er toch nog goed voor de Italiaanse politici gezorgd.Niks dan besparingen in Italië: Premier Matteo Renzi houdt grote schoonmaak en probeert de Italiaanse staat zo efficiënt mogelijk te ontlasten door ambtenaarslonen terug te schroeven en wagens te verkopen. Toch is er geen enkele staat die zijn politici zo vertroetelt.

ROME (Reuters) - The golden palace that the Emperor Nero built as a monument to himself after half of ancient Rome was consumed by fire is reopening to the public even though its renovation isn’t finished yet.The main palace of the “Domus Aurea” or “House of Gold” complex, which once included an artificial lake where the Colosseum now stands, was closed in 2005 for emergency repairs and briefly reopened in 2007 before closing again.From Sunday, visitors can come for a tour of the almost 2,000-year-old site, where they will be kitted out with protective helmets and guided by an archaeologist.

Het Italiaans-Amerikaanse autoconcern Fiat Chrysler neemt afscheid van dochterbedrijf Ferrari. Het iconische sportautomerk wordt op eigen benen gezet en krijgt een beursnotering in Europa en de Verenigde Staten, zo maakt het fusiebedrijf woensdag bekend.Ongeveer 10 procent van de aandelen zal op de markt worden verkocht, de rest komt in handen van de huidige aandeelhouders van Fiat Chrysler.De afsplitsing, die naar verwachting volgend jaar wordt afgerond, hoort bij de plannen waarmee het Italiaans-Amerikaanse bedrijf de komende jaren zijn winst wil vergroten.De strijd over de toekomst van Ferrari kostte topman Luca di Montezemolo vorige maand zijn baan. Hij wilde het exclusieve karakter van Ferrari beschermen, maar moest het afleggen tegen Sergio Marchionne, de baas van Fiat Chrysler.
