The Amalfi Coast (or Costiera Amalfitana in Italian) surely flaunts Europe’s most beautiful coastline. With its sheer cliffs that give way to a crystal blue sea, beautiful villas nestled into the rocks, and some stunning beaches, the Amalfi Coast has been a major tourist destination for centuries.
Even if you don’t want to stay the night in one of its several picturesque towns, just take the drive along the hair-pin curves of the coast road, and your breath will be taken away—not only because of the beauty but also because of the height! This thrilling coast drive will jump start your heart beat.
The Amalfi Coast fills up in summer, so come prepared to share this idyllic slice of coast. But if you decide to come slightly off-season you won’t regret getting a piece a paradise all to yourself. If you’re a nature-buff then spring and fall are the best times to come, as there are several trails to be explored that climb into the exquisite Lattari Mountains.
While you’re there be sure to try the limoncello, a liquor made from the hundreds of large lemons that dot the terraces in the winter.
