Limoncello is a sweet liqueur obtained by maceration in ethyl alcohol of lemon rinds, mixed later with a syrup of sugar and water, which gives the classic yellow liquor to be enjoyed as an aperitif and as a digestive. The rinds obtained from the best lemons, of symmetrical shape and medium-large size, is the main ingredient; the lemon rind contains essential oils that give the liquor a very strong aroma and taste. According to tradition, the limoncello was created at the beginning of the 20th century between Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri: the lemons used are the Sorrento lemon (called the “femminello") or sfusato Amalfi IGP.
