The heliocentric view, which states that the sun stands still and the earth moves, was not accepted as truth in his time. In 1543, Renaissance astronomer Copernicus had already made this observation in his seminal work on the heliocentric theory, “De revolutionibus orbium coelestium”, which stirred great controversy and was considered to conflict with the Scriptures.Upbringing and studiesGalileo was born on the 15th of February 1564 in Pisa, to Vincenzo Galilei, a musician, and Giulia Ammannati.
