What does it say about the Italians?The gossip magazine Chi has just run a cover photo of Stefania Giannini, the Italian education secretary, sunbathing topless on a beach in Tuscany.There she is, lying on her back, beneath the relentless Mediterranean sun, eyes closed and breasts glistening.The photo has caused a summer media storm in Italy: it is the first time, so they say, in the nation’s history that a female government minister has gone topless in public – or at least got caught. She is a Left-winger to boot and so, for once, Silvio “Bunga Bunga” Berlusconi has nothing to do with it. Where will it end?
