Chef Fabio Trabocchi, who recently announced he would open a second restaurant, Fiola Mare in Georgetown, also is planning a third D.C. restaurant, called Casa Luca.
The 130-seat restaurant, scheduled to open this summer, will actually open before Fiola Mare, which is taking over a space previously home to an office and isn’t expected to open until late this year.
Casa Luca vino e cucina, taking over space recently vacated by Againn gastropub at 1099 New York Avenue NW, will be a more casual take for the chef, whose Fiola restaurant offers a higher-end menu and experience.
Casa Luca, which is named for the chef’s 9-year-old son, will feature a menu of “authentic and affordable” items from Trabocchi’s home region of Le Marche, Italy.
The menu will include flatbreads, antipasti and salads, homemade pasta dishes and grilled meats and fish, as well as modern takes on traditional rustic dishes, including mussels Alicia with tomato marinara, San Leo ravioli with greens, parmigiano, lemon zest and fresh herbs and a “braciole” pork chop with beans cacciatora style.
The restaurant will have several wines on tap, including red, white and sparkling selections. The wine list will include 20 offerings listed at $28 apiece.
