Hoax or not? Underground Tunnel Discovered Between Sicily and Calabria

Forget the much glorified and never accomplished bridge over the Strait of Messina; according to a series of reports published on local Calabrian and Sicilian news sites, an underground tunnel that connects Sicily with Calabria would be in place since the Punic Wars era.

According to the reports, the secret underpass was discovered a few days ago by workers making fixes on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway, precisely at the location of Villa San Giovanni.
