Sorrento lemons are one the symbols of the Sorrento Peninsula. In the right season you can see its color and smell its flowers all over. But you will also see the tradition of lemon cultivation on frescos and mosaics when visiting Pompei and Herculaneum about 30 kilometres from Sorrento.

In the eighteenth century, the Sorrento lemons started to be the subject of intensive cultivation and in the following century there was a flourishing maritime trade to Northern Europe and North America.

The Sorrento lemon is cultivated all over the Sorrento Peninsula. It can flourish even 5-6 times a year. With favorable weather conditions they bloom until early November.

Just as famous as the lemons themselves is limoncello, the typical lemon liqueur of Sorrento.

The Sorrento Peninsula is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. It’s located on the Mediterranean Sea near Naples in southern Italy. Sorrento on the Bay of Naples is a town of true Mediterranean charm. The hustle and bustle of the shops, cafes and restaurants of the Piazza Tasso epitomises the popular ‘al fresco’ lifestyle. There are many Italian restaurants with fresh pastas and delicious pizzas, Italian coffee bars and local arts and crafts shops.

Nearby Sant’ Agata Sui Due Golfi is also worth a visit. It’s beautiful little village perched on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples. It has become popular over the years thanks to its incredible views. While you’re there, don’t miss out on gourmet restaurant Don Alfonso 1890, which is among the most famous restaurants of Italy.

Other charming places are the neighbouring fishing villages of Nerano and Massa Lubrense as well as Capri, the Isle of Dreams.
