Husband and wife team, Jason and Ashley Bartner, have been living their dream since 2006 as owners, hosts, teachers and chefs of La Tavola Marche Cooking School and Organic Farm, in the Le Marche region of Italy.
Jason is a professional chef & culinary instructor with over 15 years of high-end culinary experience in San Francisco, New York City, Amsterdam & Italy. He also studied at the prestigious French Culinary Institute in New York. Ashley wear’s many hats as food & travel writer, host-extraordinaire & free-range chicken wrangler on the farm. She writes a monthly column “Field to Fork” for Taste Italia and wrote for two and half years for Italia! Magazine on their everyday adventures of life in Le Marche and contributes to numerous other food & travel publications. She is also proud to be named to the Board of Directors for The International Culinary Tourism Association, continuing her efforts to promote culinary tourism.

An Interview with Jason and Ashley Bartner of La Tavola Marche
Where are you both originally from?
I am originally from Seattle and Jason is from Danville, CA. We met in college in Seattle and then moved to New York. We lived in Brooklyn and worked in the City for 8 years before moving to tini tiny Piobbico.
We know you absolutely love living in Le Marche and doing what you do there…but can you tell us if there is anything you miss about living in NYC?
The only thing I miss is ethnic food at any hour, delivered to your door!
What do you enjoy most about living in Italy now and the Italian lifestyle?
The quality of life and feeling part of the community. I love the simple pleasures of country living; having a garden and growing our own food, raising chickens, enjoying a caffe when a neighbor stops by to say Ciao!
