MOBILITY is an important part of being an entrepreneur, whether he be small or big. Entrepreneurs are always on the lookout for efficient and reliable vehicles to help them transport their products.

Willie Tee Ten, president of Autohub Group of Companies, saw the potential of Piaggio’s Apé vehicles when he was on tour of European cities for the launch of the Mini Coupe in 2011. While eating snacks in Frankfurt, he noticed the presence of several Italian versions of Philippine multi-cabs and upgraded counterparts of the local jolly jeeps. These “cute” vehicles were selling items from freshly brewed coffee in Frankfurt to the Little Mermaid souvenirs in Copenhagen. Driven by curiosity, he decided to take a closer look and saw the Piaggio logo in the Apé.

Apé (pronounced ah-peh), meaning honeybee in Italian, has impressed automobile dealers like Tee Ten because it is a hardworking machine, just like a honeybee.

Right then and there, Tee Ten decided this cute but powerful vehicle is a perfect fit for Philippine businesses. “I also thought that this would jump-start entrepreneurship among the people especially the younger folk,” he said.

“It is a right move to bring it to the Philippines. It is a stall with wheels, so to speak, a delivery van and a selling venue in one. What caught my eye was the convenience of moving these stalls and food booths from one point to another without the hassle of hiring too many people, plus a pick-up or a van to transport it,” according to Tee Ten.
